Pool Leak Detection in Phoenix, AZ

Phoenix pools can evaporate a quarter inch a day in summer — but if you’re topping off more than that, you may be paying for a leak. We find it and fix it.

Flat $75 diagnostic fee — credited toward any repair you approve. You get an exact price to approve before any work begins — no surprises.

AQUA SHINE POOLS

Is It Evaporation — or a Leak?

The desert makes leak detection tricky: evaporation in a Phoenix summer is real, and autofill systems quietly mask problems for months while your water bill climbs. Our process starts with a proper bucket test to separate evaporation from loss, then narrows the source methodically — dye testing around fittings, skimmers, and returns; pressure testing the plumbing lines; and inspecting the equipment pad, where many “mystery” leaks turn out to live.

Once we know where the water is going, you get a clear explanation and a repair plan — whether that’s a skimmer seal, a fitting, an equipment-side fix, or a plumbing section that needs attention. No guesswork, no replacing parts just to see if it helps.

WHY IT MATTERS

Why Small Leaks Deserve Fast Attention

A leak that loses an eighth of an inch a day quietly wastes thousands of gallons a month — and in Arizona, that shows up on your water bill and your chemical costs, because every gallon of makeup water arrives unbalanced and hungry for chlorine. Worse, water escaping under a deck or behind a shell erodes soil and undermines structures over time. Finding a leak early is dramatically cheaper than repairing what a leak causes later.

Evan & Tanner, this is for them. They both have been great over here! Evan has made it clear he knows his job. The sprinkler fountain is working after 2yrs of not, and the signs are all new and nice!

I have been using Aqua Shine Pool Services since I moved here several years ago and have been happy with the weekly service as well as repairs needed along the way. Most recently, Tanner helped me with my pool light and replaced a difficult old switch - now I can control the pool lights from inside the house. Thank you Tanner and everyone at Aqua Shine for great service!

I have had the pleasure of using Aqua Shine Pool Services for about 11 years. They have always been professional and responsive. When the light inside my pool burned out and the whole fixture needed replacing, technician Tanner evaluated it, got bid options, and installed it within 4 days. His expertise has been stellar over the years of caring for my pool.

Leaks and equipment problems travel together: a suction-side air leak can look like a pump problem, and constant fresh fill water feeds the scale we cover in our Arizona calcium scale guide. For repairs beyond the leak itself, browse pool repair — and keep levels watched weekly with weekly pool cleaning.

How do I know if my pool is really leaking?

Run the bucket test: fill a bucket, set it on a step, mark both water lines, and compare after 24 hours with the pump off. If the pool drops noticeably more than the bucket, that’s loss beyond evaporation — time to call us.
In peak summer, up to about a quarter inch per day can be pure evaporation — more with wind, spillways, or water features running. Loss beyond that, or loss that continues in mild weather, points to a leak.
Yes — pressure testing isolates which line is losing water and roughly where. Many suspected “underground” leaks actually turn out to be at accessible fittings or the equipment pad, which is far cheaper to fix.
Possibly. Autofill systems hide leaks by quietly replacing lost water, and sometimes the autofill valve itself is the problem. We test both. If your water bill has crept up, don’t wait — call (480) 788-9772.
Both whenever possible. Seals, fittings, skimmer repairs, and equipment-side fixes are often handled promptly after detection; larger plumbing or structural repairs get a clear written quote first.
