AQUA SHINE POOLS

The Hardest-Working Filter in America

A pool filter in Ohio has a gentle life. Yours does not: haboobs drop literal pounds of dust into Valley pools, monsoon storms add leaves and pollen, and a twelve-month swim season means the filter never gets an off-season. When pressure creeps up and flow drops, everything downstream suffers — cleaning quality, chlorine distribution, heater performance, even pump lifespan.

A proper professional cleaning is a full teardown, not a hose-down: cartridges removed and cleaned element by element with degreaser where oils have sealed the fabric; DE grids stripped, hosed, inspected for tears, and recharged with fresh DE; sand systems deep-cleaned and evaluated for channeling. We also inspect o-rings, manifolds, and pressure gauges — the small parts whose failure makes a filter quietly stop filtering.

WHY IT MATTERS

High Pressure Is a Warning, Not a Setting

A filter running 8–10 PSI over its clean baseline isn’t “still working” — it’s strangling your circulation. The pump works harder and hotter, the skimmer pulls weakly, chlorine distributes unevenly, and cleaning crews fight water that won’t turn over. In Phoenix conditions most cartridge and DE filters earn a full teardown cleaning about every six months — after monsoon season and before summer is the rhythm we recommend — with element replacement every few years as fabrics and grids wear out.

Evan & Tanner, this is for them. They both have been great over here! Evan has made it clear he knows his job. The sprinkler fountain is working after 2yrs of not, and the signs are all new and nice!

I have been using Aqua Shine Pool Services since I moved here several years ago and have been happy with the weekly service as well as repairs needed along the way. Most recently, Tanner helped me with my pool light and replaced a difficult old switch - now I can control the pool lights from inside the house. Thank you Tanner and everyone at Aqua Shine for great service!

I have had the pleasure of using Aqua Shine Pool Services for about 11 years. They have always been professional and responsive. When the light inside my pool burned out and the whole fixture needed replacing, technician Tanner evaluated it, got bid options, and installed it within 4 days. His expertise has been stellar over the years of caring for my pool.

High filter pressure and weak flow can also point to the pump — and if pressure is fine but water still won’t clear, our green water guide covers the chemistry side. Filter cleanings pair naturally with weekly pool service, and every other fix lives under pool repair.

How often should a pool filter be cleaned in Phoenix?

For most Valley pools: a full teardown cleaning roughly every six months, ideally after monsoon season and again before summer. Pools near construction, heavy landscaping, or with high swimmer loads may need more.
Watch the pressure gauge: 8–10 PSI above your clean baseline means it’s time. Weak skimmer suction, cloudy water that chemicals don’t fix, and short cycles between backwashes are the other tells.
Usually 2–4 Phoenix years with proper cleanings. Once fabric pleats stay flat, look frayed, or pressure stays high right after a cleaning, the elements are done — cleaning can’t resurrect worn fabric, and we’ll say so honestly.
Yes — we stock and install elements for the common Pentair, Hayward, and Jandy filters. If a cleaning reveals torn grids or collapsed cartridges, we’ll quote replacements on the spot. Call (480) 788-9772.
Weekly visits include backwashing and basket care, but a full teardown cleaning is a separate, longer service — the deep clean that weekly maintenance is designed to stretch the time between.
